Playing Career

Rodgers played his childhood football for Star United between the ages of 12 to 16, and his mentor from that time, Arthur McClean, remarked on Brendan's chance as a youthful footballer in this article from the Ballymena Times.
He has found real success – he was very considered at Chelsea and he has a decent begin to his administration profession. I was conversing with him when he was here with Chelsea for the Milk Cup a couple of years back – he was reviewing the times when the young men used to prepare by running laps around the Showgrounds and the old sheep pens at the base which are no more there.

Rodgers was marked by Reading in 1990 in the wake of having trials with various clubs including Manchester United.

However his expert vocation was sliced short because of a hereditary knee condition and he was compelled to resign at 20 years old.

He played for a couple non-group clubs including Newport on the Isle of Wight, Whitney Town, and Newbury Town. In any case, whilst keeping on playing a touch of football, his principle center was on honing. He instructed and played at Newport, yet it was Reading who offered him an extraordinary chance to keep on working with them on the non-playing staff.
